About Us

The Dressing Room was opened in February 2013, by Shannon Engelbrecht.

Shannon saw a gap in the market for affordable stylish clothing giving customers the opportunity to purchase pre-loved overseas labels and New Zealand designers at a fraction of their original ticket price.

The business has been a family affair from the start with Shannon’s eldest child, Fletcher, spending time in the store and now his sister, Bella, as our youngest staff member.

Shannon was joined by Kerry who brought her keen eye for detail and creativity to enhance our range to include brand new linen, silk, viscose and cotton pieces as well as the pre-loved clothing, shoes and accessories.

Yvette joined our team while Shannon was on maternity leave and is now a valued staff member with over 30 years experience in retail and is a keen shopper herself.

Our pre-loved we refer to as our “Cinderella” items, every piece unique, with a different label and style on every hanger! We can dress you from top to toe, including shoes, jewelry and a handbag to complete the look.

As well as the pre-loved we soon realised that women were looking for natural fibers and forgiving, comfortable designs to suit our New Zealand lifestyle.

Having listened to what our customers wanted we began to stock sustainable clothing from as far away as Italy and Denmark, also New Zealand and Australian labels.

We cater for all seasons, all year round, to service our travellers and inject new styles into our range frequently.

Our pre-loved items are refreshed continuously as well, so make The Dressing Room a regular haunt to ensure that you don’t miss out.
